The DoctorsPaul Szmanda, DDSDr. Paul Szmanda has been a practicing general family dentist in Rib Mountain and the surrounding areas for over twenty years. Paul was born and raised in Antigo, Wisconsin. After graduating high school he attended the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point. Paul received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University in January of 1984.Paul and his wife Jeanne have four children. He enjoys spending time with his family, camping, hiking, and playing guitar.Dr. Paul is a member of the Marathon County Dental Society, the Wisconsin Dental Association, and the American Dental Association._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Jim Sobolewski, DDSDr. Jim Sobolewski was born in Rhinelander, Wisconsin and raised in Ironwood, Michigan. He graduated from Ironwood Catholic High School. He continued his education at Northern Michigan University on a basketball scholarship; he earned a degree in Biochemistry. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1990. After graduation, Jim moved to Crandon where he practiced for two years. Jim then moved to the Wausau area to join Paul at Szmanda Dental Center where he has been practicing since.Jim lives in Rib Mountain with his wife, Lisa, and their two daughters, Ava and Camille.Jim enjoys spending time with family and friends and is a devoted Packer fan._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________John Felkner, DDS Dr. John Felkner was born and raised in Clintonville, Wisconsin. He attended UW-Whitewater and Marquette University School of Dentistry graduating in 1975. Following a two year tour of duty as a naval dentist, he returned to Wisconsin and established a general dental practice in Wausau. He joined Szmanda Dental in 2007. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Thomas J. Bauer, DDSDr. T. J. has been practicing on active duty as a general dentist in the Air Force since 2005. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1998, T. J. worked as an Air Force logistics officer before beginning dental school at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2001. Immediately after receiving a Doctor in Dental Surgery, T. J. completed an extra year of training in an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH in 2006. After living in three countries over five years, T. J. and his wife Eden decided in September of 2011 that the Wausau area would be a perfect place to raise their two children, Madelaine and Hayden.Dr. T. J. is a member of the American Dental Association.

Our goal is to keep your dental costs down through early intervention. Regular check-ups and cleanings will make it far easier to catch any problems early and therefore contain costs to you.We would like our patients to know that our main concern is their oral health.DO NOT HESITATE to ask about the anticipated cost of your treatment. We want you to understand the costs associated with your care. It is important to us that you feel comfortable and that you have been treated fairly.The staff at Szmanda Dental is here to provide you with the best and most appropriate dental treatment. We base what is appropriate on your needs not your insurance benefits. We trust that you are as concerned about your health as we are.For any treatment, a portion of the estimated cost may be required when treatment begins. While you may have insurance and we will work with you to secure reimbursement, please remember that you are responsible for the cost of your treatment.For patients who carry no dental insurance, we will require payment in full on the day of treatment.For your convenience we accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

Our goal is to help you maximize your insurance benefits. As a service to our patients we will file your insurance claims for you, and help you work with the insurance companies to receive your greatest benefit. Please remember that you are solely responsible for any fees not covered by your plan.Dental Insurance rarely pays for your entire treatment. Usually your dental plan will pay a percentage of each procedure up to a set yearly maximum. The benefits available to you are outlined in your individual policy. We take NO responsibility for any denials by your plan.

We are sensitive to the fact that people have different needs in fulfilling their financial obligations.We offer the following different payment options:1) Prepayment if you choose to pre-pay for services, you receive a discount2) Payment as services are rendered- you pay your bill with cash, check or credit card on the day of service.3) Monthly Payment Plans: Please contact one of our locations to discuss the financing of your dental care. We would be happy to sit down with you to work out a plan that best suits you and your oral health needs.
